LLM International Commercial Dispute Resolution
Duration1 Year
LevelMasters Program
  • This course is ideal if students have an analytical mind and are curious about how law can assist and facilitate the resolution of international disputes and thus world trade
  • International trade and business have increased significantly over the last few decades, and this has brought a corresponding increase in commercial cross-border disputes, the management and resolution of which is very different from the resolution of purely domestic disputes. Most international law firms have a department dedicated to international dispute resolution and are constantly looking for talented dispute resolution lawyers: Studying this subject is essential, therefore, if students want a career in cross-border dispute resolution or international trade and commerce, or indeed in a trade-related government department
  • On this course, students will learn to think from an international legal perspective and will gain comparative knowledge of various approaches to the international commercial dispute resolution
  • This course will give students a strong theoretical and practical foundation in private international commercial dispute resolution, including traditional national court litigation and international arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). They will also gain a good foundation in some of the public law aspects of international dispute resolution, such as investment arbitration under the Washington Convention
