  • The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry will provide students with the fundamentals of chemical theory and practice through scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities
  • Students may choose to concentrate in Standard Chemistry
  • The Standard Chemistry concentration provides students with a broad range of knowledge in chemistry
  • Students will take courses in all areas of chemistry, including analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical
  • Students will also have the opportunity to take elective courses of interest, including such options as atmospheric chemistry, chemical biology, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, organometallic chemistry, polymer science and others
  • These courses will provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge if they are interested in pursuing graduate school in chemistry or a career in the chemical industry, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary science, nutrition or food science
  • All Chemistry students will take core courses in chemistry, physics and mathematics
  • Chemistry faculty members conduct research projects that are funded through government, foundation and industry grants as well as DePaul internal grants, providing students with multiple opportunities to gain hands-on research experience

    • Four years of English
    • Three years of mathematics (minimum course work equivalent to Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)
    • Three years of science (two of which must be lab science)

    • Two years of language study other than English
