The B.S. degree in mathematics is the minimum entry requirement for most careers in mathematics. In addition, it provides easy access to careers in health, science, and engineering
Math-based careers are projected to grow at a fast pace because of the reliance on big data in businesses and government agencies — an area with big opportunities for math majors
For the major there are four distinct B.S. degree tracks in mathematics:
- Mathematics (traditional track)
- Mathematics with Honors
- Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation
- Mathematical Reasoning
Advanced students should consider Honors and Fast Track programs
Students will study subjects like Introduction to Differential Equations, Advanced Calculus I, Advanced Calculus II, Algebra I: Linear, etc.

Class 12th	No specific cutoff mentioned Applicants must have passed a High School Applicants need two years of high school algebra, trigonometry, and a course including the logarithmic and exponential functions to be a math major Applicants who did not study all of those courses in high school can take catch-up courses at UAB, in a sequence of two or three pre-calculus classes
Exams	TOEFL: 77 IELTS: 6 With at least a 5.5 on each section of the examination
Additional info	Students who have completed at least 24 semester hours of transferable credit at a U.S. college or university do not have to submit proof of English proficiency
