  • The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) offers four distinct programs:
    • Information Resource Management (IRM)
    • Interactive Multimedia and Design (IMD)
    • Network Technology (NET) and
    • Optical Systems and Sensors (OSS)
  • These programs are offered jointly by Carleton’s School of Information Technology and Algonquin College’s schools of Health and Community Studies (for IRM), Media and Design (for IMD), and Advanced Technology (for NET and OSS)
  • Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Carleton University and one of:
    • A Library and Information Technician diploma (for IRM students), an Advanced Diploma of Applied Arts (for IMD students), an Advanced Diploma in Technology (for NET students) or an Advanced Diploma in Photonics and Laser Technology (for OSS students) from Algonquin College

Entry Criteria

Class 12th75%
  • Applicants should have passed Class 12th with a percentage of 75-77% from one of the following boards:
    • All India School Certificate (CBSE)
    • Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
    • One of the state board certificates
  • Prerequisites: 
    • Math: XII Maths
    • English: XII English (Only required for Information Resource Management track)
  • The admission average will be calculated on 5-6 academic subjects completed in the XII level
ExamsTOEFL: 86
  • With 22 in writing and speaking, 20 reading and listening

IELTS: 6.5
  • With a minimum of 6.0 each 

PTE: 60
  • With a minimum of 60 in each Communicative Skill

  • Applicants are required to submit a portfolio (only required for Interactive Multimedia and Design Track). The admission portfolio should include the following components:
    • A cover letter introducing yourself, your interests, and strengths. Use this letter to tell us about yourself, to help us get a feel for who you are and why you are suitable for the IMD program. This letter should be no more than 1 page.
    • A resume highlighting your educational background and any opportunities/activities that you believe make you especially suited for the program. Your resume should not be more than 1 page.
    • Six to eight examples of creative work. These should demonstrate that you can think creatively and can express yourself visually. You should submit a variety of pieces that show the breadth of your creativity. Each piece should include a description to make it easy to understand each piece or project both in terms of the medium and motivation. If a project has been created as part of a team, please be explicit about your role and contribution. Where work was done for a course, provide a brief overview of the assignment. If part of the work is based on content by others, please specify clearly. Each description should be no more than 100 word
