  • Applicants must have a high school degree from an accredited institution
  • This is the high school course load required for applying first-year students. Taking courses beyond these minimum requirements can improve your chances of acceptance.
    • 4 credits of English
    • 4 credits of mathematics (at or above Algebra I or higher)
    • 3 credits of natural science (two must have included substantial lab requirements)
    • 3 credits of social science (includes anthropology, history, civics, political science, economics, sociology, psychology and/or geography)
    • 2 credits the second language
    • 2 credits in additional academic electives
  • Once students are admitted to Florida International University, they need to complete the following courses to be admitted to the Psychology program
    • Intro to Psychology
    • Another lower-division Psychology course “C” or better (Take ONE of the following: CLP 2001: Personal Adjustment, DEP 2000: Human Growth and Development, DEP 2001: Psychology of Infancy and Childhood, IPSB 2017: Cognitive Neuroscience, SOP 2772: Psychology of Sexual Behavior) or equivalent at a Junior College
    • Introduction to Statistics I or STA 3111
    • Human Biology and earn a “C” or better, or equivalent at a Junior College

  • Applicants from non-English speaking countries, including internationally educated domestic students, must demonstrate proficiency in English. For direct admission to FIU, the international first time in college students is not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Students are required to meet the Florida Board of Governor's requirements for the college readiness largely determined by their SAT or ACT sub-section scores in Verbal/Reading and English sections. If students meet these sub-section scores and have the appropriate GPA, they are academically qualified for admission to FIU. Meeting minimum qualifications for admission does not guarantee admission into a specific term and/or program
