- The Program requires that students completing a B.S.C.E. degree to acquire the skills necessary to succeed in the engineering profession
- After the completion of the degree, the student acquire:
- An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
- An ability to design and conduct experiments, to analyze and interpret data
- An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs with realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
- An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
- Graduates of the Civil Engineering Program are expected to exhibit the following:
- Technical Aptitude: Be employed as engineers with the ability to use their technical knowledge, design, and problem-solving skills for effective professional practice throughout their careers;
- Life-Long Development: Exercise capabilities for life-long learning as a means to enhance their technical and professional skills to continuously enrich themselves and benefit the communities they are serving and beyond;
- Collaborative Spirit: Develop interpersonal and collaborative skills that function well among a diverse group of professionals for a productive career; and
- Professional Advancement: Advance and support the engineering profession through the participation of professional societies, civic groups, and educational institutions and/or establish a distinctive record of professional achievements
