Augustana College is a private Lutheran liberal arts college in Rock Island, Illinois. Augustana is a residential campus. First-year and sophomore students live in residence halls, youngsters may pick transitional living regions, and seniors live on campus or in the neighbourhood. Student activities include debates, publications, broadcasting, music groups, theatre, student government, the local Greek system, and a wide variety of professional, religious, departmental, political, social and service organizations. The college as of now has about 90 academic programmes, including nine pre-professional and eight interdisciplinary programmes.
The four years at Augustana starts with First-Year Inquiry (FYI) and closes with Senior Inquiry. FYI is a succession of courses that will open the door to the Augustana liberal arts education. FYI encourages students to:
- Think about the world and its difficulties from numerous viewpoints
- Appreciate how perspectives vary and how these distinctions make life complex and interesting
- Communicate thoughts unmistakably in talking and composing
Through Senior Inquiry, students will establish associations with what they have learned all through their program tenure. Senior Inquiry will extend their insight into their major. When student graduates, about 33% of their classes will be from the FYI sequence; a third will be a part of a major and the rest will be electives or will have a part with another major or minor area of study. Students are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships dependent on their application for admission. Every year, Presidential Scholarship worth $26,000 –is awarded to students with excellent academic record along with exceptional out-of-classroom and co-curricular contribution and great character.
Further, Dean’s Scholarship worth $25,000 yearly is awarded to students with a fantastic academic record, co-curricular inclusion and great character. Notably, Founders Scholarship worth $23,000 yearly is awarded to students whose high school course selection has been challenging and academic performance is good.
