Southern California Institute of Architecture or popularly known as SCI-Arc, is an eminent university focusing on architecture. The university is regarded as artistically and institutionally more avant-garde than other traditional schools of architecture. The university was established in 1972. It consists of 80 faculty members (most of them are practising architects), and 500 students and is situated in Los Angeles, California. Community events such as public lectures, free exhibitions and outreach programs are also held in this university. Southern California Institute of Architecture mainly focuses on the migration of culture and converges science, industry and art.

Southern California Institute of Architecture provides a master’s program of 2 years (M.Arch 2), a master’s program of 3 years (M.Arch 3), and a 5-year undergraduate program (B.Arch). Applicants with an undergraduate degree in architecture are eligible for the master’s program at this university. The university also offers post-graduate programs in Architectural Technologies, Fiction & Entertainment, Design of Cities, Design Theory & Pedagogy, and Synthetic Landscapes. Two summer programs, called Design Immersion Days and Making+Meaning are organized by the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Students of the university have the opportunity to participate in student exchange programs and can study abroad in other universities around the world.
Southern California Institute of Architecture is accredited by the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), and the NAAB (National Architectural Accrediting Board). Students from the undergraduate and postgraduate programs are also required to participate in two pubic events where they present their thesis to renowned critics including Peter Cook, Pritzker Prize recipient Thom Mayne, and GREG Lynn. The university is renowned and one of the country’s architectural universities. Scholarships are awarded by SCI-Arch to incoming post-graduate, graduate and undergraduate students on the basis of financial need and merit. Scholarships are usually awarded to meritorious and bright students (both international as well as domestic applicants).
