The University of Florida is a public research university and is among the top-ranked universities in the United States of America (USA). The university is located in Gainesville, Florida, where it has been operational since September 1906. The University of Florida got an invitation from the Association of American Universities (AAU) in 1985. The AAU is an organization comprising of 62 universities from the USA and Canada.

Spanning across a campus cover of 2,000 acres, the university houses over 900 academic and non-academic buildings within its fences. There are many notable structures present on the campus, including the famous Century Tower. The oldest buildings of the university are structured in Collegiate Gothic style, while the newer erections have been built on modern architecture.

The alumni of the University of Florida are more than 415,000 belonging to almost every state and spread across over 150 countries and include home repair television sensation Bob Vila, Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier, and the former United States Senators, Bob Graham and Connie Mack. The university alumni also include two Nobel Prize winners- Robert Grubbs for Chemistry and Marshall Nirenberg for Physiology/Medicine. The alumni also extend to include ten U.S. Senators, 42 U.S. Representatives, 8 U.S. ambassadors, and many more U.S. Government officials. A number of astronauts like Kevin Ford, business executives, have also been graduated from University.
